Hisani Madison and I met as trainees in the NCI Cancer Prevention Fellowship Program. She recently transitioned from working at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to AstraZeneca. Of course, I was really intrigued about her transition from the FDA to working in pharma. I also thought that maybe our blog readers might be interested in this too! So I asked her to answer some questions for this blog post. Thank you to Hisani for being so generous in sharing her experiences with us!
This week Michelle and I returned virtually to our alma mater, The University of Pennsylvania. We were excited to share our experiences working in the pharmaceutical industry with biomedical graduate students. We were joined by Dara Reeves, Sr. Scientist at Janssen, to chat with members of the Ernest E. Just Biomedical Society. This group "aims to serve the general academic, social and professional needs of the biomedical community, with an emphasis on the retention of underrepresented PhD students."
Ever wonder what it's like to have a summer internship at IQVIA? I asked Harvard graduate student Monica Wang to share her experience interning with this company known for working with pharmaceutical and biotech companies in the areas of health information technology and clinical research.
